Dwayne De Rosario signs new contract
D.C. United announced today the club has signed last year’s Volkswagen MLS MVP, Dwayne De Rosario, to a new contract. The 33-year old midfielder put together the finest season of his career in 2011, notching 16 goals and 11 assists en route to being honored with the League’s top individual award. Ready to strike
As D.C. United kicks off the final stretch of the preseason, the Black-and-Red welcomed the club's biggest offseason acquisition on Monday with the introduction of Albanian forward Hamdi Salihi. The 6-foot-1 striker took part in training Monday morning and, despite not having played a competitive match since last year, D.C.'s newest designated player immediately impressed United's technical staff.

United Notebook: Wednesday training notes
Under unseasonably warm conditions, D.C. United held their final practice before departing for Charleston, SC on Wednesday afternoon. Below are some of the highlights as the Black-and-Red made final preparations for the Carolina Challenge Cup.
BRANKO'S BACK
United opened Wednesday's session with some possession games. In one of them, Branko Boskovic and Dwayne De Rosario served as 'neutral' players, playing only offense for whichever team had the ball. The dynamic pair seemed more than comfortable being the focal point of the drill.

Team notes: Salihi arrival, Ask Benny & more
SALIHI'S ARRIVAL
Designated Player Hamdi Salihi has recieved all of his necessary paperwork and is set to arrive in the DC area on Saturday. The 28-year old Albanian was signed by the Black-and-Red back on February 2 and became the team's second DP, along with midfielder Branko Boskovic. Salihi, who was most recently with Rapid Vienna, will undergo a physical and other tests prior to joining the team on the training field. It is expected that the Albaninan international will likely be able to join the team for training on Monday.
